April 2002 Paper Pieced Star Workshop Paper Pieced Star—April 02

Star Table Runner - 19" x 43" Paper-pieced and machine quilted; 100% cotton, Kim Seymour, Weston, VT, 2002. This quilted table runner was the class project for our Quilter's Workshop in April 2002. The block is from the book "50 Fabulous Paper Pieced Stars" by Carol Doak. It was a fun class and a lovely project. Paper-piecing makes a complex and difficult star easy to accomplish. And, the best part, all the points match!

Attic Windows
April 2003

Attic Windows - "Moo with a View" was a fun quilt to make. You find a novelty fabric and then cut it into scenes which become your windows. Use 2 other fabrics to add contrast to the sashing (I used red and yellow) and separate with another fabric for the "window panes" (the black) to give the appearance of view out of a window. The window sizes and the perspective can vary based on the fabric that you select. This is the sample for our Quilter's Workshop April 4-6, 2003. Machine pieced and quilted by Kim Seymour, Weston, VT, March, 2002. Wall hanging measures 34 1/2" x 38"

Drunkards Path May 2003 Workshop Drunkards Path
May 2003

Drunkard's Path - 32" square; machine pieced; 100% cotton. Curved piecing made easy. This is the class sample for our May 30-June 1, 2003 Quilter's Workshop. As you can tell, it's not finished! I've made it using Kona Cotton (cream) for the light pieces and a burgundy Batik for the dark pieces. The Batik has a marbled look to it that gives the block a lovely depth. This block is traditionally made with two colors - either red and white or blue and white. You can select one of those combinations or put your own spin on it with another combination. Once the curves are sewn in the patches the rest of the block goes together in a "snap" like a nine-patch block. This sample is, so far, just 4-16" blocks. Each block took about an hour to piece ~ it's very quick and easy; it only looks difficult! We will be using the Easy Curves templates from Betty Kaiser, author of "The Path Less Traveled, Variations on the Drunkard's Path".

Peony Quilt
March 2003

The Peony Quilt is based on a quilt made in Barre, Vermont in 1863. The pattern was developed by Froncie in conjunction with the Vermont Quilt Festival. It is an exquisite example of quilting artistry. This workshop, being held March 24-26, 2003, is a class on hand-picing as well as aplique. The complete pattern is included in the cost of the workshop. A supply list is given for small projects or the full bed size quilt. Froncie Quinn, our instructor, has just completed taping a segment for Simply Quilts in which she discusses this quilt. The episode airs in the Fall, 2003.
