Folks with Families will appreciate conveniences that help them through their trip.

Free phone calls—we've switched our phone to VOC (voice over cable) with Comcast. If your cell phone doesn't have coverage here, you can use our House Phone for free local and long distance phone calls.

Coming soon, we'll be accepting American Express cards for your convenience

March brings the renovations of Inn rooms 1 & 2, the original rooms in the 200-year old Cape. We are "merging" these two rooms to become one. The new room will have a queen-sized bed, side chairs and more "elbow" room. We look forward to showing this off to you! Also, in the late fall we painted the headboard walls in the Large Motel rooms, added headboards and new lighting between the beds. We hope you enjoy the new updates and we hope to do more later this year.

Take a taste of The Colonial House home with you. We have packaged our Buttermilk Pancake mix (made by us) so you can take it home to enjoy. Add a few ingredients (and some real Vermont Maple Syrup) and you can savor the taste of Vermont all over again.

Vermont Activities

Solar Tubes for Hot Water Solar Tubes for Hot Water
Solar Hot Water Collector Saves Energy: This new solar hot water collector is helping us to GO GREEN. It saves energy as well as reducing the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere. Go green with us! We encourage guests to reuse towels for more than one day and take showers or baths in the afternoon. One person can make a difference!

Speaking of going green, recycling, composting and conserving are already part of our lifestyle at the inn. We recently added power strips for all our room TVs to help save "phantom" power drain from appliances always on "standby". Changing to the new flourescent compact light bulbs is an obvious effort. We take it a step further by replacing new windows in several inn rooms, in addition to replacing our kitchen window this Spring. We are dedicated to continued improvements in the future. We have already noticed a 15% to 20% decrease in our electricity consumption.

Renovations in Large Motel Rooms
Room Renovations We renovated the baths in two of the large motel rooms and expect have the other two done before July. Many people like the new pedestal sinks and the new exhaust fans. The new windows will help keep the rooms cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter!
